Frequently Asked Questions
Who do you work with?
I provide teletherapy for women experiencing life transitions, with a focus on postpartum anxiety and the broader perinatal period. I also work with young women navigating the challenges of emerging adulthood. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, second-guessing yourself, or struggling with new responsibilities, you’re in the right place.
What is therapy like with you?
Sessions are collaborative, flexible, and tailored to your needs. I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you create space around difficult thoughts and feelings and focus on what matters most. I also integrate existential approaches to explore identity, purpose, and meaning so we’re not just managing life but figuring out how to live it fully. Together we consider both your inner world and the context you live in, including the pressures of modern womanhood, societal expectations, and the unique challenges of the perinatal period.
Do I need a diagnosis to start therapy?
Yes, insurance requires a diagnosis to cover therapy sessions. That said, a diagnosis does not define you, and in therapy, we focus on your whole life. You are more than a label, and therapy is about supporting you, not just treating a diagnosis.
Do you accept private pay?
Yes. In addition to accepting Aetna and Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO plans, I also offer private pay sessions at a rate of $160 per session.
Many women choose private pay (sometimes called self-pay) for the added privacy and flexibility it offers. When you pay out of pocket, your information stays completely between you and your therapist—no reports, approvals, or shared records with an insurance company.
Private pay can also give you more control over your care, including how long we work together and what we focus on, without being limited by what insurance considers “medically necessary.”
If you’re seeking therapy for postpartum anxiety, perinatal mental health support, or simply a space to focus on your wellbeing as a woman, private pay can make the process feel more personal and less medical.
What question should I ask my insurance provider?
In-network coverage (BCBS, Aetna PPO plans):
If you’d like to verify your benefits, here are helpful questions to ask:
Am I covered for sessions with this provider?
Are teletherapy sessions covered for mental health?
Are prior authorizations required for therapy visits?
What is my deductible or coinsurance for mental health?
Are CPT codes 90791 (evaluation) and 90837 (ongoing therapy) covered?
Out-of-network coverage:
Does my plan cover out-of-network mental health services?
Will I be reimbursed for therapy sessions with this provider?
What documentation or superbill is required for reimbursement?
How many out-of-network sessions are covered per year?
You can also pay out-of-pocket and receive a superbill to submit for potential reimbursement. Reimbursement is determined by your insurance company.
Can I bring my baby to session?
Yes! I know it’s not always easy to find time for yourself during the perinatal period. Babies are welcome in sessions, and we’ll work together to make therapy accessible and practical for your life.
I’m still pregnant. Can I work with you?
Absolutely. While I specialize in postpartum anxiety, I support women throughout the entire perinatal period. If you are pregnant, we can develop a postpartum plan that prepares you emotionally and practically for your baby, including coping strategies and support systems for the early weeks.
Can you coordinate with my other providers?
Yes. With your written permission, I can communicate with other providers as needed, such as your psychiatrist or birth worker, to ensure your care is consistent and comprehensive.
Do I need to be in Illinois for sessions?
Yes. Because I am licensed in Illinois, all teletherapy sessions must be conducted while you are physically in Illinois.
How long are sessions?
Most sessions are 50–60 minutes. Therapy typically starts with weekly sessions and then we adjust frequency as needed.
How do I schedule a session?
Click the Book Now or Schedule Free Consult button to schedule a free 20-minute consultation. We’ll talk about your goals, answer any questions, and see if we’re a good fit for working together.
Do you offer teletherapy?
Yes! All sessions are virtual, providing a safe space for women navigating the perinatal period or other life transitions. Teletherapy makes it easier to attend sessions from home, with your baby nearby, or wherever you feel comfortable.
